October
The great vehicle search... Since two of our vehicles got totaled in the great hail storm, we have been on a search for a vehicle to replace the Suburban... So far it has been a month and a half and I am about at the end of my rope. Rodney is obsessed with 4-wheel drive... something I just don't understand. And of cource he wants a $40,000 vehicle that costs $15,000... pretty impossible. I have been driven to the end of my patience... I have found several vehicles that meet what he wants (it is always a moving target). If it was up to just me - I would by a Mustang - I have always wanted one, ever since high school, but it is not a family friendly car and the pratical side of me comes out. I am thinking that an Acadia/Enlave/Traverse/Aura would be the right vehicle - they are even available in AWD to make Rodney happy. I hope this ends very soon - it is really wearing on me - I hate things being unsettled....

Start of School, Football, Soccer, Tumbling
The start of another school year... I always have mixed emotions when the school year starts. Since I work from home, the house is always a bit quiet when the school year starts and takes a few weeks to get used to. The kids are all liking school - Brennah is in 3rd grade and has Mrs. Baalmann for a teacher. She has taught at our school for several years and I have heard very good things about her. McClellan is in 4th grade and has Ms. Day for a teacher. It is only her 2nd year of teaching, but she won some type of teaching award last year so she must be doing something right. She is from Pratt and knows some of our friends, the Neumans that live out there. Trevor is a sophomore and seem to be enjoying school.
Alyssa is a junior in college and has changed her major to secondary math education - from elementary education. She felt that she wanted to make the change to match up with current job prospects.. and she seem excited by it. She moved out in mid-July - into a house with her friends Kayla and Jenna. They have a nice little house close to Friends and she is enjoying living on her own. She has a job at Office Depot so that is good. She has started fall season softball - which only lasts a month.
Trevor is playing football and has his first game tonight. He is getting to suit up for the Varsity game and will be starting both ways in the JV game on Monday. He is pretty excited about the whole thing... I'm a little nervous about the whole thing... About half of his baseball team has joined the Sluggers Academy - they have the best known teams in the state and have had a lot of success helping their players get college scholorships - and since that is what Trevor wants to do it should be a good thing. The most positive thing is that his favorite coach of all time - Steve Meyer will be the head coach.
Mac is playing soccer again and just began practice this past week. He is excited to get his uniform next week and play his next game next Saturday. He is playing 12U soccer and I am a little concerned about his size. He is small and I am sure some of the players are going to be huge...
Brennah is taking tumbling classes instead of playing soccer this fall. She loves it and hopes to join a cheer team next spring. I haven't decided what I think about all that, but she is really enjoying the tumbling.
Rodney's mom has been in the hospital since mid-July. She has had several strokes and goes downhill and then gets better... up and down. She can not swallow or talk and has limited use of her arms and legs. She sleeps all the time and I feel we are waiting for the end. Rodney has been spending lots of time in Anthony with her so I have been doing the single parent thing. I have been praying that she have a peaceful ending to her life.
More later...

Wow- It has bee 3 months
I can't believe it has been three months since I have written on here. The bright idea was that I was going to be able to take a few minutes a week to chronicle our lives... but that hasn't happened...
In short - our lives have been filled with Trevor's school baseball, Alyssa's school softball, Mac and Brennah's soccer games, as well as the day to day business that is our lives. Those activities are all done, but new ones are starting up...
Last weekend we celebrated Grandma Vivian's 95th birthday with many of the family members and lots of friends. We had barbeque for supper and the Goons played. It was a bit cool for an outdoor party. I'm not sure if Vivian knew what all the fuss was about, but she seemed to enjoy herself.
We have had the thrill of having tornados in the area this week. One went 1/2 mile south of Kevin & Julies and tore up several trees in their pasture, but didn't mess up anything else. that same tornado hit a house that belongs to their friends - totalling their house. The one that came closest to us was seen by the air traffic controllers at the airport - fair too close for comfort.
Mac severelly sprained his wrist Tuesday night - we though it may be broken, but a severe strain instead. He was doing handstands in the living room and tried to change directions when he thought he was going to hit something. The doctor gave him a brace to wear for a few weeks until it heals.
Alyssa and her friend Kayla have rented a house to live in for the next year. It is close to campus so that will be good. I have seen the outside and it looks fine - looking forward to seeing the whole house. It will be good for her to move out and be on her own (living wise anyway...) We are excited to get our basement back.... YEA!!!
I am tired from all the busyness and need some down time... work has been crazy busy also so that is adding to my overload... way too many obligations and not enough "free" time - not sure how I'm going to change this...

Happy Snow...
I have been wanting a nice snow this winter... I realized not too long ago that it hadn't snowed a good thick snow since Mac and Brennah have been old enough to really get out and make a snowman - have a snowball fight, etc. Well we got it Sunday night. We had a snow day on Monday and Brennah got to make a big snowman with Trevor's help. Big brothers can be nice at times... Today it has gotten really really cold and it makes my wrist hurt... :-(
